Some articles cover specific projects, such as genetically modified trees and fish, while others elaborate general concerns relating to genetic manipulation. Council for Responsible Genetics
The charge of this organization is to provide the public, researchers, legislators, etc. comprehensive information regarding the social implications of biotechnology. Read position papers regarding various aspects of this issue, check out their analysis of related legislation and issues such as the "gay gene" and genetic privacy.
Genetically Engineered Organisms - Public Issues Education (GEO-PIE)
This website is a production of the Cornell University Cooperative Extension Program. "The GEO-PIE Project was developed to create objective educational materials exploring the complex scientific and social issues associated with genetic engineering, to help readers consider those issues for themselves." Well laid out site with balanced information. Especially interesting is the "In the Market" section, which details which food products we are currently eating that have been genetically engineered.

This site gives a good overview of the issues surrounding genetic engineering and includes information on genetic engineering basics, cloned animals, risks and benefits of genetic engineering and alternatives to genetic engineering. There are also links to further web resources on the topic.

Nursing Resources
Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition provides more
than 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical
disciplines and also features abstracts and indexing for
nearly 850 journals. Clinical Pharmacology provides access to
information for prescription drugs, herbal and
nutritional supplements, over-the-counter products and
new and investigational drugs. CINAHL provides indexing for
over 500 journals in nursing and other allied health disciplines.
Encyclopedia Americana
Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext
links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.
Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection
Provides coverage of nearly 550 full text journals,
covering topics
such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry
& psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational
and experimental methods.
