Biographical
information on artists, especially women and location of their
exhibits are given here. Material searchable by subject, movement and nationalities.

History Resource
Gives Art History from prehistoric art to 21st century with
research resources as lists of links, lists of artists for
biographies, and specific art forms in countries of Asia, Africa, and
the Americas are included.

World Wide Arts
Resources
World Wide Arts is a great searchable directory of art sites with more than 3000
categories and over 150,000 pages. Some of the major categories include:
Museums, Antiques, Arts Resources, Commercial Arts and Galleries, Artist
Index, Festivals, and Performance Arts.

The Art
Newspaper (International Edition)
This site reports on "old art, new art, decorative art, the commercial and the
non-commercial world" and the effects of political and economic events on art.
Special features include Focus on Looted Art and Today's Artist which has an
artist interview and examples from the artist's oeuvre. There are links to
international art resources, a free newsletter, and a forum. Archived and
searchable through links in bottom menus of most pages.

Library Databases relevant to art/artists
The following Santa Monica College Library online databases may contain material
relevant to art/artists. Databases may include magazine,
newspaper and journal articles. Off-campus users, please note: you must be a Santa
Monica College student, faculty or staff member to use these
services.
Grove Dictionary of Art Contains 45,000 articles on every aspect of the visual arts painting, sculpture, graphic arts, architecture, decorative arts and photography from prehistory to the present day.
Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide
full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text
for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans
virtually every area of academic study and offers information
dating as far back as 1975.
Encyclopedia Americana Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext
links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.
Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
Readers' Guide Retrospective 1890-1982 Comprehensive indexing of general-interest periodicals. Coverage includes the years 1890 through 1982.
National Newspapers (U.S.) Searchable index for recent issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Full-text for newer issues and citations for older materials. More information on coverage
Newspaper Source (Regional, National and International) Provides selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers.
Ethnic NewsWatch News, culture and history from the newspapers,
magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native
press -- English and Spanish language.
Youth Resources Resources of interest to primary and secondary school
students. MAS Ultra School Edition, Primary Search,
Ebsco Animals and the Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedia
include full text
for more almost 600 popular general interest and current
events publications, more than 500 full
text pamphlets, 252 full text reference books, 84,074
biographies, 86,132 primary source documents, and an
Image Collection of 107,135 photos, maps and flags.
