Centers for Disease Control National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities

This CDC site offers to "provide national leadership for preventing birth defects and developmental disabilities and improving the health and wellness of people with disabilities." The "Birth Defects" section includes information on such subjects as a general discussion of birth defects, fetal alcohol syndrome, attention deficit disorder, and other topics of interest.

MEDLINEplus: Birth Defects

MEDLINE, a database of the U. S. National Library of Medicine, provides this website to offer useful information for both general readers and researchers. There are links to general overviews on birth defects, clinical trials, diagnosis, current research, and material on specific birth defects.

DES Action U SA

This site is provide by DES Action USA, a "national, non-profit consumer organization dedicated to informing the public about DES (diethylstilbestrol) and helping DES-exposed individuals." Diethylstilbestrol, a synthetic estrogen drug, was prescribed for millions of pregnant women (mainly from 1938-1971) to prevent miscarriage and ensure a healthy pregnancy. Instead, "the women and  the children they carried are at risk for certain health problems and may need special care."

Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier
Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans virtually every area of academic study and offers information dating as far back as 1975.

Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection
Provides coverage of nearly 550 full text journals, covering topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods.

National Newspapers (U.S.)
Searchable index for recent issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Full-text for newer issues and citations for older materials. More information on coverage
