National Coalition Against Censorship
The National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC), founded in 1974, is an alliance of 50 national non-profit organizations, including literary, artistic, religious, educational, professional, labor, and civil liberties groups. United by a conviction that freedom of thought, inquiry, and expression must be defended, they work to educate their own members and the public at large about the dangers of censorship and how to oppose them.

Index on Censorship
Index on Censorship is a bi-monthly magazine for free speech. This website shows how free speech affects the political issues of the moment. Index on Censorship was founded in 1972.
Cyber Liberties
A project of the ACLU that documents news and court cases surrounding issues of censorship on the Internet. The ACLU is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization. They handle nearly 6,000 court cases annually, in almost every state.
Article 19
Article 19 (named after Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights) is an international non-profit organization that promotes freedom of expression around the world. Site is in English as well as other languages.
Electronic Frontier Foundation
A non-profit organization than advocates for freedom of expression issues in cyberspace. They confront cutting-edge issues defending free speech, privacy, innovation, and consumer rights today.

The following Santa Monica College Library online databases may contain material
relevant to censorship. Databases may include magazine,
newspaper and journal articles. Off-campus users, please note: you must be a Santa

Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide
full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text
for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans
virtually every area of academic study and offers information
dating as far back as 1975.
National Newspapers (U.S.) Searchable index for recent issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Full-text for newer issues and citations for older materials. More information on coverage
Newspaper Source (Regional, National and International) Provides selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers.
Philosophy and Religion Collection Covers such topics as epistemology, political philosophy,
philosophy of language, moral philosophy and the history of
philosophy, world religions, biblical studies,
religious history. Includes more than 300 full text journals.

ERIC ERIC, the Educational Resource Information Center contains more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 980 educational and education-related journals.
Professional Development Collection Over 550 full-text journals of interest to professional educators, librarians and education researchers. Offers information on a wide variety of educational topics ranging from children's health and development to pedagogical theory and practice. This database also contains more than 200 educational reports.
Encyclopedia Americana Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext
links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.
Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
