Topics cloning

Websites on cloning
The following websites (In alphabetical order) will help you with your research on
cloning:
- Bioethics.net: The American Journal of Bioethics Online
The current issue of the journal plus links to selected articles in back
issues. Features include "Bioethics for Beginners," "Cloning
and Genetics," and "Bioethics Knowledge Tools".
- Conceiving a Clone
A ThinkQuest website on cloning that includes
cloning techniques, profiles of scientists working on cloning, the cloning debate,
regulations, and a cloning timeline. ThinkQuest Inc. is "a non profit
organization which offers programs designed to advance education through the use of
technology".
- Human Cloning Foundation
This "Official Site in Support of Human Cloning" includes essays in support of
human cloning written by members of the Foundation, plus links to several web sites such
as "Reproductive cloning Network" and "Reason Magazine Online".
- Human Genome Project Information
Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Library of Medicine, this site
provides information about and links to project information, news sources, research,
publications, meetings, ethical, legal, and social issues, and topical fact sheets.
- Library Information
Services Gateway - Kennedy Institute of Ethics - Georgetown University
Serves as a gateway to the National Ethics Center for Bioethics Literature, Bioethics in
the National Library of Medicine (NLM) Databases (PubMed & LocatorPlus), and the
National Information Resource on Ethics and Human Genetics.
- UNESCO International Bioethics Committee
The United Nations Educational and Cultural Organization web site includes the
"Universal Declaration on the Human Genome and Human Rights".
- U.S. National Bioethics Advisory Commission
Includes the Commission's reports, with recommendations and commissioned papers on
bioethics topics such as Cloning and Stem Cell Research.

Library Databases relevant to cloning
The following databases are listed in order of relevancy to the topic of cloning.
Databases may include magazine, newspaper and journal articles. In addition
to explanations and the history of cloning, ethical aspects of this topic can be found in
all of the resources, and especially in The Philospher's Index (which gives citations
only, not full-text). The Encyclopedia Americana is a good place to find background
information on cloning. Off-campus users, please note: you must be a Santa Monica College student,
faculty or staff member to use these services.
Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide
full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text
for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans
virtually every area of academic study and offers information
dating as far back as 1975.
Science Full Text Select Coverage includes popular science magazines as well as professional journals. Also covers The New York Times Science Section. Full text coverage begins in January 1995.
Philosophy and Religion Collection Covers such topics as epistemology, political philosophy,
philosophy of language, moral philosophy and the history of
philosophy, world religions, biblical studies,
religious history. Includes more than 300 full text journals.
Health Source Health Source: Consumer Edition offers information
on many health topics
including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition,
childcare, sports medicine and general health. Has full text for
nearly 300 journals.
National Newspapers (U.S.) Searchable index for recent issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Full-text for newer issues and citations for older materials. More information on coverage
Newspaper Source (Regional, National and International) Provides selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers.
Encyclopedia Americana Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext
links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.
Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
NetLibrary Over 10,000 electronic books (e-books) from leading university, trade and professional publishers. Titles across all subject areas. Includes an extensive collection of e-books in the public domain, featuring classics in literature and history. (One maximum simultaneous
