- ANRED: Anorexia Nervosa and Related Eating Disorders
This non-profit organization presents information designed for the layperson about
various eating disorders.
- MEDLINEplus
Health Topics: Eating Disorders
A service of the the National Library of Health, MEDLINEplus has information from
the National Institutes of Health and other sources on over 500 diseases and conditions.
The "Health Topics" pages include the latest news, general overviews,
clinical trials, specific conditions, treatments, and organizations.
- National Eating Disorders Association
This site provides general information about eating disorders and body image concerns
along with information about the association's prevention and treatment programs.
The materials collection lists educational materials, curricula, videos, books and other
resources for sale online.
- National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
The mission of this government agency is to "diminish the burden of mental illness
through research." A search of the website for "eating disorders"
produces over one hundred documents.

Library Databases relevant to eating disorders
Databases may include magazine, newspaper and journal articles. Off-campus users, please note:

Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide
full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text
for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans
virtually every area of academic study and offers information
dating as far back as 1975.
National Newspapers (U.S.) Searchable index for recent issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Full-text for newer issues and citations for older materials. More information on coverage
Newspaper Source (Regional, National and International) Provides selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers.
Science Full Text Select Coverage includes popular science magazines as well as professional journals. Also covers The New York Times Science Section. Full text coverage begins in January 1995.
Health Source Health Source: Consumer Edition offers information
on many health topics
including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition,
childcare, sports medicine and general health. Has full text for
nearly 300 journals.
Encyclopedia Americana Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext
links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.
Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
NetLibrary Over 10,000 electronic books (e-books) from leading university, trade and professional publishers. Titles across all subject areas. Includes an extensive collection of e-books in the public domain, featuring classics in literature and history. (One maximum simultaneous
