Education Web Pages: Emotional Literacy
This British website is "aiming to [help students and
educators] create... conditions so that: "People are able to
recognise, understand, handle, and appropriately express their
emotions." Offers definitions and discussions appropriate to
emotional literacy.
Emotions
and Emotional Intelligence
Cornell University site offering an "on-line
bibliography in the area of emotions and emotional intelligence,
describing current research findings and notes of interest. The main areas
covered are: emotional intelligence, emotions, and methods for researching
emotions."
Consortium for Research on Emotional
Intelligence in Organizations
"The mission of the Consortium is to aid the advancement
of research and practice related to emotional intelligence [EI] in organizations."
EI topics encompass "self-awareness, optimism, and empathy" in the workplace. Features a history
of EI, reports, and information about EI model programs and methods for
measuring EI. Includes a bibliography and annotated links.

S. National Library of Medicine History of Medicine Division: Emotions and
Disease
Features an exhibition on emotions and disease,
offering sections on "the balance of passions",
"psychosomatic medicine", "stress and deprivation",
and others.
Science
of Emotions
This website features reports on advances in the research on emotions
and disease: "A decade or so ago, many researchers believed emotions,
the feelings usually associated more with the heart than the head,
couldn't be measured or studied in laboratory experiments. Researchers
lacked instruments, and what's more, most scientists didn't recognize the
far-ranging and long-lasting effects emotions can have on peoples' health.
More recently, though, hard scientific scrutiny of emotions has
dramatically come into its own...."

Library Databases relevant to the emotions
The following Santa Monica College Library online databases may contain
material relevant to the emotions. Databases may include magazine,
newspaper and journal articles. Please note: you must be a Santa

Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide
full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text
for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans
virtually every area of academic study and offers information
dating as far back as 1975.
Philosophy and Religion Collection Covers such topics as epistemology, political philosophy,
philosophy of language, moral philosophy and the history of
philosophy, world religions, biblical studies,
religious history. Includes more than 300 full text journals.
Science Full Text Select Coverage includes popular science magazines as well as professional journals. Also covers The New York Times Science Section. Full text coverage begins in January 1995.
Health Source Health Source: Consumer Edition offers information
on many health topics
including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition,
childcare, sports medicine and general health. Has full text for
nearly 300 journals.
National Newspapers (U.S.) Searchable index for recent issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Full-text for newer issues and citations for older materials. More information on coverage
Newspaper Source (Regional, National and International) Provides selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers.
Encyclopedia Americana Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext
links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.
Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
