  • Amazing Environmental Web Directory
    This well organized directory includes annotated links to thousands of sites from over 100 countries.

  • Environmental Defense
    Formerly the Environmental Defense Fund, this national non-profit organization is "dedicated to protecting the environmental rights of all people, even future generations."   Subjects covered include biodiversity, climate change, health, and oceans, in which are presented overviews, success stories, testimonials, meet the staff, environmental justice, and Washington Watch sections.

  • Environmental News Network (ENN)
    This site's aims to educate readers about environmental issues by  presenting all sides of timely environmental news, in-depth reports, live chat, interactive quizzes, daily feature stories, forums for debate, and more.

  • Environmental Treaties and Resource indicators (ENTRI)
    A comprehensive online search system for finding information about environmental treaties and national resouce indicators.  Includes issues of land use/land cover change and desertification, global climate change, stratospheric ozone depletion, transboundary air pollution, conservation of biological diversity, deforestation, oceans and their living resources, trade and the environment, and population.

  • Environmental Working Group (EWG)
    This not-for-profit environmental research organization presents original reports resulting from research and analysis of large state and federal databases and other resources.  Report topics include  toxics, farm subsidies, pesticides, drinking water and air pollution.

  • Greenpeace
    "Greenpeace is an independent, campaigning organisation which uses nonviolent, creative confrontation to expose global environmental problems, and to force the solutions which are essential to a green and peaceful future. Greenpeace's goal is to ensure the ability of the earth to nurture life in all its diversity."  This searchable website includes an archive of Greenpeace articles and activities.

  • Santa Monica Heal the Bay
    An example of a local environmental concern.

  • Sierra Club
    This established environmental advocacy group's website provides research and news on a variety of issues. There is also a search feature for finding out about local issues.

  • UNEP.Net Environment Network
    The United nations Environmental Network includes thematic portals about climate change, freshwater, and Global Environment Outlook (GEO) data which includes over 300 different variables presented as national, regional and subregional statistics or as geospatial data sets (maps).

  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
    The EPA's mission is "to protect human health and to safeguard the natural environment - air, water, and land - upon which life depends."  The website content includes the EPA newsroom, laws and regulations, local information in the "where you live" section, EPA information sources, EPA educational resources, and EPA programs.

Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier
Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans virtually every area of academic study and offers information dating as far back as 1975.

National Newspapers (U.S.)
Searchable index for recent issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Full-text for newer issues and citations for older materials. More information on coverage

Newspaper Source (Regional, National and International)
Provides selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers.

Science Full Text Select
Coverage includes popular science magazines as well as professional journals. Also covers The New York Times Science Section. Full text coverage begins in January 1995.

JSTOR
Back issues of over 300 scholarly journals in a wide variety of disciplines: African American Studies, African Studies, Anthropology, Archeology, Art and Architecture, Asian Studies, Ecology, Economics, Education, Finance, Geography, History, Language & Literature, Latin American Studies, Mathematics, Music, Middle East Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Population Studies, Slavic Studies, Sociology and Statistics.

Philosophy and Religion Collection
Covers such topics as epistemology, political philosophy, philosophy of language, moral philosophy and the history of philosophy, world religions, biblical studies, religious history. Includes more than 300 full text journals.

Encyclopedia Americana
Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.

Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World
Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.

ABI/INFORM
Business news and information from more than 410 full text journals. Coverage includes all subject areas related to business.

Business Source Premier
Business Source Premier provides full text for nearly 8200 serials. Coverage includes all subject areas related to business.

Regional Business News
Regional Business News provides full text coverage for regional business publications. Includes coverage of 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States.

NetLibrary
Over 10,000 electronic books (e-books) from leading university, trade and professional publishers. Titles across all subject areas. Includes an extensive collection of e-books in the public domain, featuring classics in literature and history. (One maximum simultaneous user per book)
