A list of links, with excellent annotations, to Web sites relating to costuming, fashion (both historical and current), the fashion industry, education, and more. One of the excellent webliographies (published monthly) from the April 1999 issue of the Association of College and Research Libraries' C&RL NewsNet Internet Resources.

firstVIEW
A great source for runway pictures of Milan, Paris, London and New York fashion shows. Although a subscription (expensive) is required for the very latest shows, the thousands of free photos of over 175 top designers' collections of make it worth a visit. Site has photographs only, there is no commentary and very little editorial material. http://www.firstview.com/

Online version of the popular fashion magazine.

A comprehensive directory of more than 2,000 costume and costuming-related links, for the benefit of those who make and/or study costumes: costumers, students, historical re-enactors, science fiction fans, dancers, theatrical costumers, and those interested in fashion, textile art, and costume history.

Fashion Net - http://www.fashion.net/
This site, "the world's leading fashion site," features a fashion-specific Web sites search engine, links to industry sites, with categories including: cosmetics, designers, magazines, models and modeling, schools, shopping and shows, chat and message boards.

Elizabethan Costuming Page 
A searchable site that includes information, drawings, and photos about clothing for peasant, middle, and upper class men and women from the Tudor and Elizabethan periods (sixteenth century) in English history. In addition there are extensive period illustrations, patterns for making everything from shoes to hats, information on Elizabethan fabrics and colors, and some information on costume of the time outside of England. Also available is a bibliography and costuming sources and supplies.

Library Databases relevant to fashion and the fashion industry

The following Santa Monica College Library online databases may contain material relevant to fashion and fashion companies.  Databases may include magazine, newspaper and journal articles.  Off-campus users, please note: you must be a Santa Monica College student, faculty or staff member to use these services.

Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier
Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans virtually every area of academic study and offers information dating as far back as 1975.

National Newspapers (U.S.)
Searchable index for recent issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Full-text for newer issues and citations for older materials. More information on coverage

Newspaper Source (Regional, National and International)
Provides selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers.

Encyclopedia Americana
Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.

Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World
Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.

ABI/INFORM
Business news and information from more than 410 full text journals. Coverage includes all subject areas related to business.

Business Source Premier
Business Source Premier provides full text for nearly 8200 serials. Coverage includes all subject areas related to business.

Regional Business News
Regional Business News provides full text coverage for regional business publications. Includes coverage of 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States.
