Websites on global warming

The following websites (in alphabetical order) will help you with your research on global warming:

  • EPA Global Warming Site
    The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's site on global warming includes sections on climate, emissions, impacts, and actions.  Its Visitor Center provides global warming information of interest to specific groups, for example, concerned citizens, kids and educators, small business, health professionals, the international community, etc.   Links to other sites include a list of international sites.

  • Global Warming: Early Warning signs
    This interactive world map of climate change illustrates local fingerprints or direct manifestations of global warming such as rising sea levels or heat waves, and local harbingers or events that foreshadow the types of impacts that may increase with continued warming, such as spreading diseases or droughts and fires.  The map was produced by various groups including the Sierra Club, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and the World Wildlife Fund.

  • NOAA Paleo Global Warming Page
    A Paleo Perspective on Global Warming by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.  Scientists from around the world study past climate to understand the Earth's present and future climate.

  • United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC)
    Includes activities and documents (including the Kyoto Protocol) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

National Newspapers (U.S.)
Searchable index for recent issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Full-text for newer issues and citations for older materials. More information on coverage

Newspaper Source (Regional, National and International)
Provides selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers.

Science Full Text Select
Coverage includes popular science magazines as well as professional journals. Also covers The New York Times Science Section. Full text coverage begins in January 1995.

Regional Business News provides full text coverage for regional business publications. Includes coverage of 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States.

CountryWatch
Country Reviews provide geographical, political, economic, corporate and environmental information for every country in the world. Country Wire is compiled from the wire services on the latest political, economic, corporate, and environmental events on a country by country basis.

Encyclopedia Americana
Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.

Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World
Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
