Features articles on a wide range of health topics, including
cancer, depression, sexual health, and sleep disorders. There are
also health news items, a section of interactive online tools, and

Consumer information relating to health care, especially about

CHID is a database produced by health-related agencies of the Federal
Government. This database provides titles, abstracts, and availability
information for health information and health education resources. The
value of this database is that it lists a wealth of health promotion
and education materials and program descriptions that are not indexed
elsewhere.

A comprehensive resource for health information. Features include
health news, a nutrition guide, health info for people of all

Library Databases relevant to health care
Paragraph regarding library databases that may contain material
relevant to health care. Databases may include magazine,
newspaper and journal articles. Please note: you must be a Santa
Monica College student, faculty or staff member to use these services.
Health Source Health Source: Consumer Edition offers information
on many health topics
including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition,
childcare, sports medicine and general health. Has full text for
nearly 300 journals.
Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide
full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text
for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans
virtually every area of academic study and offers information
dating as far back as 1975.
National Newspapers (U.S.) Searchable index for recent issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Full-text for newer issues and citations for older materials. More information on coverage
Newspaper Source (Regional, National and International) Provides selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers.
Ethnic NewsWatch News, culture and history from the newspapers,
magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native
press -- English and Spanish language.
Science Full Text Select Coverage includes popular science magazines as well as professional journals. Also covers The New York Times Science Section. Full text coverage begins in January 1995.

Business Source Premier Business Source Premier provides full text for nearly 8200 serials.
Coverage includes all subject areas related to business.
Regional Business News Regional Business News provides full text coverage for
regional business publications. Includes coverage of 75 business
journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and
rural areas within the United States.
Encyclopedia Americana Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext
links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.
Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
RAND California An extensive database on California and its cities and counties. Includes information on California public policy issues, statistics on business, employment, population, real estate, and crime rates, school test scores and monthly reports on the California economy.
Medline Search abstracts from over 4,600 biomedical journals
for information on medicine,
nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care
system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more.
