U.
S. Census Bureau: Marriage and Divorce
This U.S. Census Bureau site does not give data on the numbers of
marriages and divorces, but offers information on "the current
marital status of persons, by age, sex, and race and the estimated median
age at first marriage for men and women at the U.S. level. Reports are
also published from special studies which collect data on the marital
history of the population."
CDC
National Center for Health Statistics: Marriage
This Centers for Disease Control (CDC) site offers
statistics relating to marriage in 1990 and provisional data on the year
2001. In addition, there are links to other sites that offer more detailed
information and statistics.
Alliance
for Marriage
Decidedly pro the traditional concept of marriage as
a family-centerd institution, the Alliance for Marriage (AFM) is a "non-partisan
research and education organization dedicated to promoting marriage and
addressing the epidemic of fatherless families in the United States. AFM
exists to educate the public, the media, elected officials, and civil
society leaders on the benefits of marriage for children, adults and
society."

Library Databases relevant to marriage
The following Santa Monica College Library online databases may contain

virtually every area of academic study and offers information
dating as far back as 1975.
Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection Provides coverage of nearly 550 full text journals,
covering topics
such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry
& psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational
and experimental methods.
Philosophy and Religion Collection Covers such topics as epistemology, political philosophy,
philosophy of language, moral philosophy and the history of
philosophy, world religions, biblical studies,
religious history. Includes more than 300 full text journals.
National Newspapers (U.S.) Searchable index for recent issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Full-text for newer issues and citations for older materials. More information on coverage
Newspaper Source (Regional, National and International) Provides selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers.

Health Source Health Source: Consumer Edition offers information
on many health topics
including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition,
childcare, sports medicine and general health. Has full text for
nearly 300 journals.
Encyclopedia Americana Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext
links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.
Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
Ethnic NewsWatch News, culture and history from the newspapers,
magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native
press -- English and Spanish language.
Philosophy and Religion Collection Covers such topics as epistemology, political philosophy,
philosophy of language, moral philosophy and the history of
philosophy, world religions, biblical studies,
religious history. Includes more than 300 full text journals.
RAND California An extensive database on California and its cities and counties. Includes information on California public policy issues, statistics on business, employment, population, real estate, and crime rates, school test scores and monthly reports on the California economy.
