Promoting Competition,
Protecting Consumers: A Plain English Guide to Antitrust Laws
The U. S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is a "consumer protection
agency with two mandates under the FTC Act: to guard the marketplace from
unfair methods of competition, and to prevent unfair or deceptive acts or
practices that harm consumers." To aid in this mission, the FTC
presents this site which explains concepts of illegal and illegal business
competition practices as well as defining relevant terms. Sections
include: "An Antitrust Primer", "Price
Discrimination", Mergers", "Maintaining or Creating a
Monopoly", and "Illegal Business Practices".

The Antitrust Division is "charged with the general enforcement,
by criminal and civil proceedings, of Federal antitrust and other laws antitrust
and other laws relating to the protection of competition and the
prohibition of monopolization and restraints of trade." Their site offers
full text of selected antitrust cases, including U. S. vs Microsoft,
and other documents.

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act, the Antitrust
Division makes public the statutory provisions and guidelines that give
them their mandate and purview, including provisions of the Sherman Act
and the Clayton Act.

regional business publications. Includes coverage of 75 business
journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and
rural areas within the United States.
Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide
full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text
for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans
virtually every area of academic study and offers information
dating as far back as 1975.
National Newspapers (U.S.) Searchable index for recent issues of the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the Christian Science Monitor. Full-text for newer issues and citations for older materials. More information on coverage
