Bulfinch's Mythology

Excellent site making the seminal work of Thomas Bulfinch available online. Includes: Volume One, 'The Age of Fable'; Volume Two, 'The Age of Chivalry'; and Volume Three, 'Legends of Charlemagne'. 

Folklore and Mythology: Electronic Texts

An extensive collection of tales from around the world, many edited or translated by D. L. Ashliman, a professor of Germanic Languages and Literature. The alphabetical listing is by author, country of origin, and categories (such as frog kings and princes, human sacrifice, multiple birth, nightmares, werewolf and witchcraft legends, and Aarne-Thompson categories). Includes stories from Aesop, Bulfinch, Boccaccio, Chaucer, Grimm Brothers, Andrew Lang, Longfellow, the Volsunga Saga, and more. 

Godchecker: Your Guide to the Gods

This site takes a lighthearted view of gods and mythological figures from around the world. It "aims to cover all Gods ofmythology, literature and legend" as well as pagan figures. Information on over 1,300 deities is browsable by pantheon/culture or searchable. Several types of gods are not yet available, including Roman and Indian gods. From a group of religion and mythology enthusiasts. 

Encyclopedia Mythica

An online encyclopedia of "mythology, folklore, and legend. It contains over 6000 definitions of gods and goddesses, supernatural beings and legendary creatures and monsters from all over the world."

Legends

"History, literature, and folklore surrounding famous characters such as Robin Hood, King Arthur, Beowulf, Blackbeard, and many more." Sections also include fairy tales, and stories from Shakespeare.

Library Databases relevant to mythology

Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier
Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans virtually every area of academic study and offers information dating as far back as 1975.

Philosophy and Religion Collection
Covers such topics as epistemology, political philosophy, philosophy of language, moral philosophy and the history of philosophy, world religions, biblical studies, religious history. Includes more than 300 full text journals.

Encyclopedia Americana
Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.

Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World
Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.

Magill On Literature and Authors
Critical analyses and plot summaries of the most studied works in the history of literature. Includes information on over 1,500 notable authors. Magill On Authors covers long and short fiction writers, poets, dramatists and philosophers.

Grove Dictionary of Art
Contains 45,000 articles on every aspect of the visual arts painting, sculpture, graphic arts, architecture, decorative arts and photography from prehistory to the present day.

JSTOR
Back issues of over 300 scholarly journals in a wide variety of disciplines: African American Studies, African Studies, Anthropology, Archeology, Art and Architecture, Asian Studies, Ecology, Economics, Education, Finance, Geography, History, Language & Literature, Latin American Studies, Mathematics, Music, Middle East Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Population Studies, Slavic Studies, Sociology and Statistics.
